CARL BARKSLarge 15x15½ poster of the Donald Duck and his family from Duckburg! Poster signed: "Carl Barks". Color, 15x15½. Depicts Barks' creation, Scrooge McDuck, and other denizens of Duckburg, including Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Donald's nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie. Animator Carl Barks (1901-2000), who first came to the Disney Studios in 1935 as a story man on cartoons featuring Donald Duck, who had been created the year before, worked there as "the good artist" for 24 years (1942-1966), creating some 6,371 pages of cartoons in 450 comic books featuring Donald and the friends that Barks created for him. Barks, who was known for his top-quality art and scripts, took Donald and his own creations, Gladstone Gander, Gyro Gearloose, the Beagle Boys and the Junior Woodchucks, to the far corners of the world in stories and pictures that delighted audiences all over the globe. The cartoonist/artist retired in 1966, the year Walt Disney died, but in 1994, at the age of 93, Barks made a trip to Europe to celebrate Donald's 60th birthday at Euro Disney in Paris. Mid-vertical fold with staple holes and a horizontal fold on upper half. Fine condition.
