CARL DUDLEY and CARMEN DRAGON
Handwritten notes from the American film director and composer/conductor to radio personality George Sanders, with each signing on separate sides. Extremely rare!
Autograph sentiment signed: "Very pleased/interview/Aloha/Carl Dudley/Cinerama South Sea Adventures"/Sept 30, 1958", "To George Sanders -/I enjoyed meeting/you - also the red/coat - beard + haircut/bit-/Good luck-" 7¾x6¼. CARL DUDLEY (1910-1973) was an American film director and producer, working prolifically on the This World of Ours series from 1950 to 1955 on over 25 films. He is best known for his work on the film South Seas Adventures (1958), which ended up being his last directing/producing credit. Composer and conductor CARMEN DRAGON (1914-1984) worked on radio, film, and television, in addition to his live performances. He composed a number of memorable film scores, including Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), Kiss Tomorrow Good-Bye (1950), and Night Into Tomorrow (1951). He won an Oscar in 1945 for his work on the musical Cover Girl, though he initially was uncredited for his work on the film. Dragon conducted the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra for his program The Standard School Broadcast, beginning a radio career for Dragon that lasted into the 1980's (though he switched programs a number of times). George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Edges irregular. Left edge frayed and notched from binding. Unsigned magazine and photograph clippings affixed. Lightly toned. Slight surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
