CARL GRAYSON and CANDY HALL
Extremely rare signatures from the City Slickers violinist and Bar-6 Cowboy
Autograph note signed: "To Lloyd/Thanks for/liking our/show/Carl Grayson", on verso: "Sincerely/Candy Hall", one unidentified signature. 5½x4½. CARL GRAYSON (1908-1958) was a vocalist and violinist, known as being one of the original members of Spike Jones' and his City Slickers. The band would often play the first half of a show straight, then reappear in strange costumes with weird instruments. Joining the group in it's early stages in the 1940's, Grayson had a prior history as a band leader for high society musical groups, which helped the City Slickers land gigs when it was still in it's infancy. Once the group gained popularity, Grayson was noted for his comical talents and goofy sound effects, though he had to be let go as a permanent member in 1946 due to his undependable nature in performances and recordings. CANDY HALL was a musician and vocalist for The Bar-6 Cowboys, a group of Western and Country musicians often appearing in film and television of the 1930's and 1940's. Hall himself only appeared in Songs and Saddles (1938), California or Bust (1941), and Keep Shooting (1942). Left edge irregularly cut. Heavily toned. Light surface creases. Faint pencil notes on top right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
