Photograph signed: "Carl Hubbell". B/w with brown hue, 7½x9½. Carl Hubbell (1903-1988),
a master of the difficult screwball pitch, was a 20-game winner five seasons in a row for
the New York Giants (1933-1937) and was the only peacetime pitcher to win the Most
Valuable Player Award twice (1933, 1936). Hubbell's most famous feat was striking out six,
including five future Hall of Famers (Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons and Joe
Cronin), in three scoreless innings of the 1934 All-Star Game. He was inducted into the
National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947. Ink lightly beaded. Fine condition. Framed to an
overall size of 14¼x22½.
