Vintage sepia photograph of an elegant Laemmle - head and shoulders
Photograph signed: "Sincerely/Carla Laemmle". Sepia, 8x10. Dancer and actress Carla Laemmle (1909-2014), the niece of Universal Pictures founder Carl Laemmle, made her film debut in The Phantom of the Opera (1925). Sometimes billed as Beth Laemmle, Carla Lenard or Carla Leonard, she also appeared in such films as Topsy and Eva (1927), Uncle Tom's Cabin (1927), The Broadway Melody (1929), The King of Jazz (1930), Dracula (1931) and On Your Toes (1939). In later years, Laemmle appeared as herself in several films, including two made-for-TV movies, Universal Horror (1998) and The Perfect Scary Movie (2005), and the 1999 feature, The Road to Dracula. She was also seen in archival photographs in two documentaries, She's Alive! Creating the Bride of Frankenstein (1999) and The Frankenstein Files: How Hollywood Made a Monster (1999). Lightly creased and shaded at blank margins and corners. Surface creases and scratches (most not evident head on). Otherwise, fine condition.
