CARLO BERGONZI, GIAN-PIERO MASTROMEI and MARION LIPPERT
Three singers sign a black and white magazine photograph with their
respected pictures.
Magazine Photograph signed: "Gian-Piero/Mastromei", "Marion
Lippert" and "Carlo Bergonzi". B/w, 6¾x9½ overall, signed
below their respective images (1½x2¼ each). Below are captioned images of five
more singers who did not sign: Victor De Narke, Bruno Tomaselli, Eugenio Valori,
Jose Crea and Ulises Poli. BERGONZI's (1924-2014) imprisonment for
anti-Nazi activities during World War II delayed his operatic studies, but he
was destined to become a tenor star on the stages of La Scala, Covent Garden,
and the Metropolitan Opera. Though specializing in Verdi, he had over
40 roles in his repertory. Officially retired from 1994, he made a surprise
performance at Carnegie Hall in 2000 at the age of 75! Gian-Piero MASTROMEI
(b. 1932) is an Italian-born operatic who moved to Argentina with his family
after World War II. MARION LIPPERT is a German operatic
soprano who sang at the Metropolitan Opera from 1968 to 1974. She made her
American debut in 1968 in the title role of Puccini's Turandot.
Large stain in lower left corner. Image on verso shows through lightly, touching
"M" of "Mastromei". Light surface creases. Corners and edges lightly worn.
Otherwise, fine condition.
