Unsigned commemorative folder issued at Fenway Park in honor of his retirement
Program, unsigned, 2 pages, 12x15. Commemorative folder in honor of his retirement, issued September 4, 2000, at Fenway Park. Carlton Fisk (b. 1947) holds the all-time major league record for games caught (2,229). He held the all-time HR leader for catchers (351) until it was broken by Mike Piazza in 2004. Fisk was AL Rookie of Year (1972) and a 10-time All-Star. He hit the epic, 12th-inning Game Six homer for Boston Red Sox in the 1975 World Series. Fisk was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. Not mentioned in this Red Sox brochure is that Fisk signed with the Chicago White Sox as a free agent in 1981, after the Red Sox GM was one day late in mailing his contract. Fisk played more games for the Chicago White Sox than for the Boston Red Sox. Both teams retired his number, but Fisk chose a Red Sox cap for the Hall of Fame. Corners slightly worn. Fine condition.
