Partly Printed Contract signed: "Carol Bruce" as Actor on page six. Six pages. 8½x11. front and verso. Beverly Hills, California, February 20, 1952.Headed: "Agency Contract/(Artists' Manager Contract)". Bruce contracts with the William Morris Agency to be her "agent in the motion picture industry" for a term of one year, commencing on February 20, 1952. She agrees to pay the agency a commission of ten percent of "all monies or other consideration received by the Actor...." Also signed by an Agent of the William Morris Agency, Inc. The year she signed this contract, Bruce appeared in the television series, Curtain Call and she was a guest star on The Milton Berle Show. Before she debuted on Broadway in Irving Berlin's musical Louisiana Purchase (1939), Carol Bruce (1919-2007) was a frequent radio and night club singer in the 1940s. Although she appeared in several films over the course of her decades-long career, Bruce preferred live performances. Her movies include American Gigolo (1980) and Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987). She had recurring guest roles on the television shows Knots Landing (1979-1993) and WKRP in Cincinnati (1979-1982). Her Broadway credits include the revival of Showboat (1946-1948), where she performed as Julie for hundreds of performances. Slightly creased. Staple holes at upper left corners, ink notes (unknown hand) at upper left corner of first page. File holes at upper margins. Otherwise, fine condition.
