Inscribed Photograph Signed "To Doris/Carol Hughes" With notes
on verso in unknown hand. Sepia, 5x7. Hughes (1910-1995, born Carolyn
Hughes in Chicago, Illinois in 1910) was an American actress. Hughes got her
show business start on stage, with her one and only Broadway appearance in
1933's Run, Little Chillun. Her first film appearance was in an
uncredited role in George White's 1935 Scandals (1935). She had a number
of starring roles until 1938 and mostly played bit roles after that. Notable
exceptions include her role as Dale Arden, replacing Jean Rogers, in Flash
Gordon Conquers the Universe (1938) and as Gil Lamb's leading lady in
a series of RKO Radio two-reel comedies. She retired from film in 1953.
