Carole Mathews" in blue ink. B/w, 8x10. Carole Matthews (b.
1920), is an American actress with over 80 movies and TV shows to her
credit. She got her start at Columbia Pictures in 1944, moving up from
uncredited to secondary roles, before moving to playing hard-boiled women at
Paramount and Universal in the 1950s. Matthews had a few starring roles,
especially in the mid-1950s, but generally played second banana. She made the
jump to TV in 1951 and spent the bulk of her career after 1957 in guest star
roles, with a recurring role as Wilma Fansler on The Californians.
Mystery Science Theatre 3000 fans may recognize her as Police Lt. Lee
Hampton from the Roger Corman-helmed Swamp Diamonds (1957). Fine
condition.
