The "Astrologer to the Stars" promises to send a chart to Barbara
Norton, then head of the Public Relations department at the Sheraton-Park
Hotel.
Typed Letter signed: "Carroll Righter", 1 page, 8½x11.
Hollywood, California, 1965 February 17. On personal letterhead to Miss
Barbara Norton, Public Relations, Sheraton Park Hotel, Washington, D. C. In
full: "It was wonderful to have met you, and I am busy on your chart and
also that of your 'Libran' which will be sent to you just as soon as I get it
dictated and out. It was a real pleasure to have met you with Hope, and I hope
that conditions are better for you. I look forward with great pleasure to seeing
you some of these days very shortly. Thank you so much for your confidence in
me. Affectionately". Carroll Righter (1900-1988) called himself
"the gregarious Aquarius," but he was known to others as "the
astrologer to the stars." Righter, who began a daily syndicated
astrological advice column in 1950, was carried by 166 newspapers. Righter
replied with a "no comment" when asked about rumors that he advised President
and First Lady Ronald and Nancy Reagan. He was the author of several books,
including Astrology and You. Paper clip stain crease and rust stain near
top left corner. Corners worn. Normal mailing folds. Ink note (unknown hand).
