Original Art signed: "Carveth Wells/[elephant drawn with the same pen]", 4¼x2¾ card. Accompanied by original envelope, addressed in his hand, postmarked New York, N.Y., June 16, 1942. Ink notes (unknown hand) on envelope of same size. Carveth Wells (1887-1957), born in England, was an American explorer, world traveler, author, lecturer and radio commenter. His books included Six Years in the Malay Jungle (1925). His documentary film, Russia Today (1933) was among the first to document starvation in the Ukraine resulting from Stalin's drive to collectivize agriculture. Very lightly toned. Fine condition.
