CECIL T. CAULFIELD. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Steve
Juscik/with memories of/W.W.II days together/on U.S.S. Prichett (DD561))/Cecil
T. Caulfield". B/w, 5x7. The U.S.S. Prichett was commissioned on
January 15, 1944, with Commander Cecil T. Caulfield in command. The
Prichett saw action in the Pacific then sailed into the South China Sea
and hit enemy shipping and shore installations from Saigon to Formosa, then
striking at Okinawa. On February 10, 1945, the Prichett raided the
industrial complexes of Honshu. After striking Tokyo and Yokohama, the ship
turned back to cover the landings on Iwo Jima, February 19, 1945. Lightly
creased. Paper clip impression at upper left. Horizontal photo emulsion defect
touches signature (barely evident head on). Stamp on verso (no show
through).
