Autograph Musical Quotation: "Allegro/[2 untitled bars of music in
treble cleft/"C. Chaminade Nov. 1908". 3¾x2¼ card. Cecile Chaminade
(1857-1944) was a French pianist and composer, who made her concert debut at
age 18. She wrote pieces for piano and other instruments, as well as orchestral
compositions. The first female composer to be honored with the Legion of
Honor, she recorded many piano rolls. Her gramophone recordings from 1903
are much prized by collectors. Her "Flute Concerto" is probably her piece
most often performed today. Chaminade was well received during a 1908 tour of
the US, where her works were popular. Mounting remnants on verso (no
show-through). Fine condition.
