Sale Price $216.00
The actress signs a Playbill for a production of Third Best Sport at the Ambassador Theatre in New York.
Playbill signed: "Thank you from/UNICEF/Celeste/Holm". 38 pages, 6x9. Playbill for The Theatre Guild's production of the comedy Third Best Sport at the Ambassador Theatre, New York. Holm is pictured on the cover. In 1943, Rodgers and Hammerstein cast Celeste Holm (1917-2012) as soubrette Ado Annie in Oklahoma!; both the production itself and Annie's show-stopping song "I Cain't Say No" affirmed Holm's future stardom. She was cast by her studio, 20th Century-Fox, in the role of the love-starved fashion editor in the prestige feature Gentlemen's Agreement (1947), for which she won an Academy Award. The important role of Bette Davis' understanding friend in another Oscar-winner, All About Eve (1950), has immortalized Holm amongst the film cultists. Always choosy about her roles, she remained active in the 1980s and 1990s whenever a good part struck her fancy. 1-inch tear at top edge of back cover. Otherwise, fine condition.
