Austrian-born graphic artist and sculptor Chaim Gross (1904-1991), who settled in the U.S. in 1921, is best known for his lively, naturalistic figure compositions carved in wood. His sculptures also include works in stone and bronze, and his common subjects for both his sculptures and other art works (which include covers for the United Nations) include circus performers, animals, female figures and Jewish tradition. Gross, who served as President of the Sculptors Guild of America, was the father of sculptor Mimi Gross. Two horizontal folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
