CHANIN HALE
Actress Chanine Hale wrote this letter to a fan from Beverly Hills; it was enclosed with a lock of hair and one of her tie-scarves (not included). In it, she reveals that she really wants TV Guide to do an article on her.
Autograph letter signed "Chanin Hale". 2 pages, 7¼x10½. Written "c/o Armstrong-[illegible] Agency", Beverly Hills, New York. In full: "Dear Kenneth, Thanks for the sweet letter, and the very nice 'interest'. I hope the enclosed 'tie-scarf' [not included] will do - did not find any old (plain) scarf in my things - guess I never use them - also, the small lock of hair [not included] is really all I can spare at this moment - just had t all trimmed before I flew to N.Y.C. on business last week. If you really are writing to a few TV magazines requesting an article on me - the one I have my heart set on - is 'TV Guide' - I really want quite badly to get an article and picture in that publication, but so far have had no luck - so every outside request would be greatly appreciated. I'm also enclosing a list of my summer reruns [not included] - just in case you care to watch. Again - Thanks so very much for your letter. All My Very Best Wishes". Redhead-turned-platinum blonde Hale, born Marilyn Victoria Chanine Hale, survived an unhappy childhood to find success as a TV actress during the 1960s and 1970s. An actress since her teenage years, she got her break in 1963, when she was discovered during a Los Angeles production of the comedy U. C. L. A. by actor Jack Albertson, who introduced her Red Skelton. In all, Hale had almost 40 movies and TV shows to her credit between 1961 and 1981, including repeat appearances on The Red Skelton Show (1964), Green Acres (1969-1970) and Gunsmoke (1971-1975). Hale also toured Vietnam and other overseas locations entertaining American soldiers, and a 1969 New York Daily News photo of her briefly turned her into a pinup girl for the troops. Lightly creased. Folded in half and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
