In full: "You probably don't believe what I said yesterday, that I made a note that morning about our long delayed luncheon. And you won't believe that I made that note at least once a week for three months. I have been working under frantic pressure, with luncheon and dinner speeches almost every day. Should you be free for luncheon on Thursday, May 21st? It is a long way off, bu tmy first unbooked date. Cordially yours". CHANNING POLLOCK (1880-1946) was a playwright and composer with many Broadway credits. His first Broadway play, The Pit, opened in 1904; the last, The House Beautiful, closed in 1931. He contributed tunes and lyrics to the Ziegfield Follies. His son, also named Channing Pollock (1929-2006) was an actor and a famous magician. ORSON LOWELL (1871-1956), the letter's recipient, was a famed American artist/illustrator whose work graced many American magazines and novels of his time. Slightly soiled. One-fourth-inch tear at center of top edge. Overall, fine condition.
