photograph was taken in Washington, D.C., on June 11, 1927 after CHARLES A.
LINDBERGH received the first Distinguished Flying Cross ever awarded by the
United States. With the Capitol building in the background, a jovial CHARLES
EVANS HUGHES, former Secretary of State, looks on as Lindbergh holds his
citation in his right hand. Just three weeks earlier, on May 21, 1927, Lindbergh
had completed the first ever solo flight across the Atlantic from New York to
Paris. Mounted on a board, a third surface. Signature area lightly soiled,
lightly stained and creased. Photo area creased and soiled. Boldly signed. Heavy
mounting remnants on verso, no show through.
