Autograph sentiment signed "Yours sincerely,/C. A. Dana./March 23,
1885.". Pencil notations in top right corner in unknown hand.3¾x1¾
card. Dana (1819-1897), born Charles Anderson Dana, was the city and
later managing editor of Horace Greeley's New York Tribune
(1847-1862) and served as President Abraham Lincoln's Assistant Secretary
of War (1863-1865). From 1868 until his death in 1897, Dana was
part-owner and editor of the New York Sun. Lightly toned.
Discolorations near left and bottom edges and center of card, which touch
signature. Rounded corners. Otherwise in fine condition.
