French tenor vocalist Charles Aznavour (b. 1924) has written over 1,000 songs in 5 languages, and sung in many more. Most of his songs are love songs, and he has been called "France's Frank Sinatra." He has appeared in over 60 films, including the starring role in Truffaut's Shoot the Piano Player (1960). In a poll conducted by CNN and Time Online, he was voted Entertainer of the Century, garnering 18% of the vote to best runner ups Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley. He has been active in charitable work for his ancestral home, Armenia, and in 2009 was named Armenia's Ambassador to Switzerland and to the United Nations. Lightly creased.
