Autograph Note Signed: "To George -/Who knew my wife/before I
did!/Charles Collingwood", 7½x9¼. 1½x2½ newspaper photograph attached at
lower right (two surfaces). Charles Collingwood (1917-1985), who was studying at
Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship when World War II began. He became one of the
elite journalists (including Cronkite Severeid) closely associated with Edward
R. Murrow. A skilled radio and television commentator, Collingwood
covered national and international news for CBS for over 40 years, retiring
in 1982. Collingwood was married to actress Louise Albritton from 1946 until
her death in 1979. George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a
prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland.
