The actor, known as Detective Royster on Police Woman, signs his handwritten letter
to the American Museum of Historical Documents: "If this sounds heavy, then please
don't get me right." Accompanied by his signed, hand addressed envelope. Two items.
Autograph letter signed: "Charlie", in blue ink, 1 page, 6x9. Accompanied by his signed [on
verso], "C. Dierkop" hand addressed envelope, Postmarked Van Nuys California,
February 6, 1986. To "Todd Axelrod" of the American Museum of Historical Documents,
Las Vegas, Nevada. In full: "Hello, to us! My name is Charles Richard Dierkop. I was born
Sept. 11, 1936 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. My main goal in life, is to die laughing. I wish all
of us nothing, in particular, and everything, in general. Have a very nice time, along the
way of discovery. If this sounds heavy, then please, don't get me right. I wish you Keno,
Blackjack & a good life. A friend,". American actor Charles Dierkop (1936-2024) started
out in minor roles in television such as in Naked City (1960-1962) and Voyage to the Bottom
of the Sea (1965), but by the late 1960s he was earning spots in major films, including two by
George Roy HillButch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and The Sting (1973).
During the 1970s he made a name for himself starring alongside Angie Dickinson and
Earl Holliman as Detective Pete Royster in Police Woman (1974-1978). His other
notable screen appearances include Fantasy Island (1980-1982), the Fall Guy (1983-1985),
Maverick (1994) with Mel Gibson and James Garner. In recent years he's appeared as Dr.
Sawyer in Chinaman's Chance: America's Other Slaves (2008), Forget Me Not (2009) and
The Midnighters (2014). Creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
