Pink album leaf signed with actor Charles Drake's "Best Wishes"
in blue ink
Autograph Note signed: "To John/Best Wishes/Charles Drake" in
blue ink. 5¾x4½ album leaf. Saleman-turned-actor Drake (1914-1994)
appeared in almost 140 movies and TV shows between 1938 and 1976, with
notable performances as Dr. Sanderson in Harvey (1950), cowardly con man
Steve Miller in Winchester '73 (1950) and five appearances in Audie
Murphy movies, including Gunsmoke (1953), To Hell and Back (1955)
and No Name on the Bullet (1959). Most of his credits after 1954 are on
TV, including numerous appearances on Robert Montgomery Presents
(1955-1956) and Wagon Train (1958-1964) and recurring roles in
Rendezvous (1957-1961). Star Trek fans may remember him as
Commodore Stockley from the 1967 original series episode The Deadly
Years. Drake also appeared on Broadway once, as a singer in the original
46th Street Theatre production of Guys and Dolls. Lightly creased.
Pinholes from album binding along left edge. Otherwise in fine
condition.
