Passionate about art, Norton traveled extensively in Europe and produced translations of Dante's Vita Nuova and Divina Commedia. During the Civil War, Norton worked for the Loyal Publication Society, maintaining correspondence with newspaper editors all across the U.S. He was an editor for the North American Review, the United States' first literary magazine. He was also an active proponent for legalized euthanasia. An advocate for the Arts and Crafts movement, Norton was one of the founding members of The Society of Arts and Crafts of Boston. Lightly toned. Corners and edges gently worn. Creased in several places, with most prominent creases and a ¼-inch tear toward the left-hand side of the paper. Otherwise, fine condition.
