CHARLES F. BRANNAN
Inscribed photo, in suit and paisley tie
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Ken from Charles F. Brannan". B/w, 8x10. Charles F. Brannan (1903-1992) was Secretary of Agriculture under President Truman, 1945-1953. In 1953 he proposed the Brannan Plan, which would have guaranteed farmers a minimum income while allowing the free market to determine the price of agricultural commodities. (The proposal died in a Republican-controlled Congress.) Brannan was general counsel to the National Farmer's Union (1953-1990). He was the last surviving member of Truman's Cabinet. Top and bottom edges ragged. Creased and soiled. Lightly toned.
