Check signed: "Charles Forsythe", 6x2¾. New York, N. Y., 1977 July 7. Check #1136, drawn on the account of Charles Forsythe at Citibank, payable to Lou Jacobi for $15.20. Entirely filled out by Forsythe. Endorsed on verso: "Lou Jacobi". CHARLES FORSYTHE was a Broadway stage manager, serving 9 plays between 1955 (A Roomful of Roses) to 1965 (Alfie!). He later produced the light spy caper, Mrs. Polifax, Spy, starring Rosalind Russell in her last feature film (1971). LOU JACOBI (1913-2009) was a Canadian character actor known for playing frumpy, often hapless men. He had over 60 TV shows and movies to his credit from 1953, as well as 10 Broadway appearances. One of his most famous roles was as Mr. Van Daan in the Broadway production of The Diary of Anne Frank, which ran for 717 performances between 1955 and 1957, a role he reprised in the 1959 movie adaptation. He also appeared as a transvestite husband in Woody Allen's Everything You Wanted to Know about Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask) (1972), as a man who's sucked into his TV in Amazon Women on the Moon (1987) and as Kurt Gödel in I.Q. (1994), his last movie. Corners slightly worn. Ink stamps. Fine condition.
