Check signed: "Charles Forsythe", 6x2¾. New York, N. Y., 1976 September 3. Check # 923, drawn on his personal account at First National City Bank, payable to Valerie Mahaffey for $136,57. Entirely filled out by Forsythe. Endorsed on verso: "Valerie Mahaffey". CHARLES FORSYTHE was a Broadway stage manager, serving 9 plays between 1955 (A Roomful of Roses) to 1965 (Alfie!). He later produced the light spy caper, Mrs. Polifax, Spy, starring Rosalind Russell in her last feature film (1971). VALERIE MAHAFFEY (b. 1953) made her first of six Broadway appearances in Rex (1976), the year she received this check from Mahaffey. Her most important film role to date was probably that of Marcela in Seabiscuit (2003), but she is most famous for her TV roles. Nominated for a Daytime Emmy for The Doctors (1980), she scored a prime time Emmy in 1992 for Northern Exposure, the only member of that cast to win an Emmy. On two series, Wings and Desperate Housewives, she portrayed a friendly and apparently normal woman who proves to be insane. Fine condition.
