Autograph Letter signed: "Ch. Gounod", in black ink, 1p, 4½x7 folded, 9x7 flat. 1980 May 24.
To "My Henriette". In French, translated in full: "Tomorrow Sunday, if your mom would like
it, be it at 11 o'clock, be it from 5 to 6 o'clock. I am not free on Monday or Tuesday. Warm
regards -". French composer Charles Gounod (1818-1893) is best known for his religious
works and operas, including Faust (1959), Mireille (1864) and Romeo and Juliet (1867).
Later in his life, Gounod, who had lived in England from 1870-1875, wrote his famous
musical setting of "Ave Maria". He also wrote oratorios, symphonies and chamber music.
Toned. Normal mailing folds. Corners rounded. Very slightly soiled. Light surface creases.
