CHARLES H. MASSEY
Manager writes to John Willis, editor of Theatre World, about his client, Will Patton
Typed letter signed: "Charles" in red ink. 1 page, 8¼x10½. Written on Curtis Brown Management letterhead. November 25, 1985. New York City, New York. In full: "Dear John, Will Patton is busy rehearsing for "A Lie of the Mind", and requested that we forward this information onto you, the picture and resume will provide most of the information you need. In addition, please note that his birthdate is 6-14-54, and that he was born in Charleston, South Carolina. His Off-Broadway debut as in the "Kingdom of Earth or the Seven Descents of Myrtle" which I have highlighted on his resume. Best wishes as you compile yet another Theatre World. Sincerely". Charles H Massey was a personal manager with Curtis Brown Management of New York City in the late 1970s, and has since worked in outdoor theatre production and marketing, most recently working as the Marketing Director for The Lost Colony, a living history museum in Roanoke, North Carolina. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Light surface creases. Corners rounded. Otherwise, fine condition.
