Signature: "C. H. Mayo", 5x3 index card. Charles Horace Mayo (1865-1939), the younger of the Mayo brothers, originated modern procedures in goiter surgery and in neurosurgery. With brother William James Mayo and father, William Worrall Mayo, he helped the Sisters of St. Francis found St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota in 1889 with the Mayo's as its sole staff. The brothers developed a cooperative group clinic at St. Mary's Hospital, which evolved into the Mayo Clinic. In 1915, they co-founded the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research in affiliation with the University of Minnesota. Fine condition.
