Poem signed: "Charles Hanson Towne". 1 page, 8½x11¼. His poem,
"Silence," typed on his personal stationery. Typed inscription: "For R. L.
Stephens". Charles Hanson Towne (1877-1949) edited several magazines, including
Cosmopolitan, Smart Set, McClure's and Harper's
Bazaar. He was a prolific author, producing novels, plays, song lyrics
and even a book of etiquette, but was best known for his poems. His verse
celebrated New York City, where he lived from the age of three. His
autobiography, So Far, So Good, was published in 1945. Multiple folds.
Toned. Edges lightly frayed and worn. Surface creases. Small, faint stain to
right of signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
