Postmarked Martinez, California, April 29, 1964. 5¢ stamp affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Addressed to a collector in Alabama. Charles McKevett Teague (1909-1974) was a U.S. congressman from California who served in the U.S. House from 1955 to 1974. In 1931, Teague graduated from Stanford University. He then attended Stanford Law School, and after graduating he was admitted to the California bar in 1934. Teague served in the United States Air Force in from 1942 to 1946. For his exemplary service Teague was awarded the Air Force commendation ribbon. He was the director of agribusinesses McKevett Corp. and Teague-McKevett Co. until he decided to run for Congress. Teague was elected to the Eighty-fourth Congress as a Republican. He also served in the nine succeeding Congresses. Faint pin holes on verso (no show-through). Indentations near right-hand corner and bottom edge of front. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
