Handwritten letter forwarding the title of his solo for a coming
performance
Autograph Letter signed: "Charles Oberthür", 1 page, 4¾x7.
14 Talbot Road, London, 1882 September 25. To "Dear Sir", in
full: "At your request I have much pleasure to enclose the title of my
solo for concert on Nov. the 4th and remain yours faithfully". He has
appended a printed slip citing the title of his harp "musical illustration":
"Clouds and Sunshine". German harpist and composer Charles "Carl" Oberthür
(1819-1895) wrote orchestra, choral and opera music, as well as over 300
solo works. He wrote "Le Desir" (1851) for the marriage celebration of his then
patron, Adolphe, Duke of Nassau. Left edge frayed from binding. Hole on top of
page. Normal mailing folds. Adhesive residue on bottom margin where paper is
attached. Fine condition.
