Autograph Note signed: "Best Wishes/to Miss Story/Charles
Shadwell", 2½x1½. English conductor Charles Shadwell (1898-1979)
founded the Cambridge Concert Orchestra, and conducted the BBC Variety
Orchestra for over 30 years (1936-1967). The BBC Variety Orchestra performed
swing and pop music, including many of Shadwell's own arrangements. His four
daughters all went into show business. He can be seen with daughter Joan Winters
in the film Variety Jubilee (1943). Soiled. Toned. Paper remnants on
verso. Faint stains across. Otherwise, fine condition.
