Printed Card signed in ink: "Charles Foster/Secretary of the Treasury/Aug.
28, 1891", 4½x2¾ card. Imprinted in upper right corner: "Treasury
Department." Charles William Foster (1828-1904), a Republican, represented
Ohio in the US House (1871-1879) before being elected Governor
(1880-1884). He was US Secretary of the Treasury under President Benjamin
Harrison (1891-1893). His birthplace of Rome, Ohio is now part of the city
of Fostoria, named in his honor. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine
condition.
