Autograph Music Quotation signed: "Charles Wakefield Cadman", 5½x3½ postcard. Cadman has written four bars of music, penning beneath them: "From the Land of the Sky-blue water". Advertisement on verso for Collier Woodall Willey Music Publishing Co., Hollywood, California, reproducing music for the song "I Only Long For You" (1921). Beginning as a church organist, Cadman (1881-1946) became interested in Native American music after reading such ethnologists as Alice Fletcher and Francis La Flesche. He incorporated Indian themes in his compositions, such as his opera Shanewis, staged at the Metropolitan in 1918. He is best known for such songs as "Land of the Sky-blue Water" (1908). Lightly soiled and stained.
