First Day Cover honoring the 1973 Indianapolis 500 Mile Race, postmarked Indianapolis, Indiana, May 28, 1973, 3 block US stamps affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Belgian-American racecar driver Charles "Charley" E. Van Acker (1912-1998) spent his entire professional career trying to earn a spot in the Indy 500. Van Acker later owned and operated the South Bend Motor Speedway. Adhesive residue and ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
