black ink. 8x5. Charlie Daniels, an accomplished fiddler, guitar player and
songwriter, had earlier played on several Bob Dylan albums and on Ringo
Starr's "Beaucoups of Blues" (1970). His band, which followed a southern
rock format, had its first hit album with Fire on the Mountain
(1974), which went gold within months of its release and was later certified
platinum. Saddle Tramp, released in 1976, also went gold, but it was
not until three years later that Daniels had his major hit, "The Devil Went
Down to Georgia". The song, which was named the Country Music
Association's Single of the Year, was a number one hit on the country
charts, and reached number three on the pop charts. Although Daniels would not
have another blockbuster hit on the country charts, he had several rock cross
over successes, including Million Mile Reflections (1979), which went
platinum, and Windows (1982), which went gold, and he remained a popular
concert draw. Toned. Irregular edges. Horizontal crease across center.
