CHARLIE DANIELS
Black and white publicity photograph of the country music star gazing into the horizon while standing on the side of a rock formation
Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "Charlie Daniels", in black felt tip, b/w, 8x10 overall, image 6¾x6¾ (one surface). Photographed by Michael Rutherford. Charlie Daniels (b. 1936) was an accomplished fiddler, guitar player, and songwriter. He founded the Charlie Daniels Band in 1972 after having previously played on several Bob Dylan albums, and on Ringo Starr's "Beaucoups of Blues" (1970). His band, which followed a southern rock format, had its first hit album with Fire on the Mountain (1974), which went gold within months of its release and was later certified platinum. Saddle Tramp, released in 1976, also went gold, but it was not until three years later that Daniels had his major hit, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". The song, which was named the Country Music Association's Single of the Year, was a number one hit on the country charts, and reached number three on the pop charts. Although Daniels would not have another blockbuster hit on the country charts, he had several rock cross-over successes, including Million Mile Reflections (1979), which went platinum, and Windows (1982), which went gold, and he remained a popular concert draw. Fine condition.
