CHARLIE DANIELS
Black and white publicity photograph of the musician posing with his band
Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "Charlie Daniels", in black ink, b/w, 10x8 overall, image 9¼x6 (one surface). Epic publicity photo. Pictured are Tom Crain, Fred Edwards, Taz DiGregorio, Charlie Hayward (all three did not sign) and Charlie Daniels, who founded the Charlie Daniels Band in 1972. Bassist Charlie Hayward and keyboardist Joe "Taz" DiGregorio were original members of the group. Charlie Daniels (b. 1936) was an accomplished fiddler, guitar player, and songwriter. He had previously played on several Bob Dylan albums and on Ringo Starr's "Beaucoups of Blues" (1970). His band, which followed a southern rock format, had its first hit album with Fire on the Mountain (1974), which went gold within months of its release and was later certified platinum. Saddle Tramp, released in 1976, also went gold, but it was not until three years later that Daniels had his major hit, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". The song, which was named the Country Music Association's Single of the Year, was a number one hit on the country charts, and reached number three on the pop charts. Although Daniels would not have another blockbuster hit on the country charts, he had several rock cross-over successes, including Million Mile Reflections (1979), which went platinum, and Windows (1982), which went gold, and he remained a popular concert draw. Fine condition.
