CHEECH & CHONG
Signed copy of Cheech & Chong's Grammy-winning 1973 comedy album Los Cochinos, with original die-cut cover and liner hiding bags of marijuana inside the car door
Record album cover signed "Cheech" and "Chong". Color, 12x12¼. Copy of Cheech & Chong's Los Cochinos. With one 11¾-inch diameter 33 1/3 rpm record. ©1973 A&M/Ode Records. Distibuted by A & M Records. The sleeve and liner for this album are both die-cut cardboard. Pulling out the liner reveals the inside of the car door, which of course is hiding baggies filled with marijuana. A popular album, Los Cochinoswon Cheech & Chong their only Grammy, for Best Comedy Performance, Single or Album. Together, comedians Richard "Cheech" Marin (born in Los Angeles, California in 1946) and Tommy Chong (born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1938) comprised one of the most popular comedy acts of the early to mid-1970s. Their subversive, drug-oriented and often scatological routines were particularly popular among young people and hippies. In 1978, Cheech and Chong made their feature-film debut in Up in Smoke, a comedy centered around their inane banter, the quest for good marijuana and careers as rock musicians. Their low-brow but funny antics were a hit and the film became that year's highest-grossing movie, and subsequently launched a short-lived series of similar films. Lightly toned and creased. Light scratches (not visible head-on) and impressions on cover. Edges are lightly scuffed. Bottom edge is lightly dented. Corners are rounded and worn. Record is lightly soiled and scratched. Otherwise in fine condition.
