4¼x5½ black and white publicity photograph of the comedian wearing a Hawaiian print shirt
Photograph Inscribed and Signed: "Judith/Stay cool-/Tommy Chong", B/w 4¼x5½. Together, comedians Richard "Cheech" Marin (born 1946) and Tommy Chong (born 1938) comprised one of the most popular comedy acts of the early to mid-1970s. Their subversive, drug-oriented, and often scatological routines were particularly popular among young people and hippies. In 1978, Cheech and Chong made their feature-film debut in Up in Smoke, a comedy centered on their inane banter, the quest for good marijuana and careers as rock musicians. Their low-brow but funny antics were a hit and the film became that year's highest-grossing movie, and subsequently launched a short-lived series of similar films. TOMMY CHONG, a Canadian, is the father of actress Rae Dawn Chong. Slight bleeding of ink. Ink note on verso (unknown hand) no show through. Otherwise, fine condition.
