CHER. Photograph signed: "All my love/Cher". B/w, 8x10. Still from the 1983 film Silkwood, for which Cher received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She is pictured with Meryl Streep, who also starred. Cher (born Cherilyn Sarkisian in 1946) and her husband, Salvatore "Sonny" Bono (1935-1998), emerged as a popular pop/rock duo with big hits such as "I Got You Babe" (1965) and "The Beat Goes On" (1967). Inspired by the act they had developed in Las Vegas nightclubs, the couple launched a popular television show (1971-1974, 1976-1977). Divorced from Sonny in 1974, Cher prospered as a solo artist, starting with her hit "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" (1971), and her Grammy Award-winning, Believe (1999). Also a popular concert attraction, Cher has enjoyed great success in films, winning a Best Actress Academy Award for Moonstruck (1987) in addition to being nominated for the Best Actress Oscar for Silkwood. Cher was also named Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for Mask (1985). Defects from original negative have reproduced at background, else fine condition.
