CHET HUNTLEYA check written and signed by the news anchor for $5.00 in cash Check signed: "Chester R Huntley", in blue ink, 6¼x2¾. July 11, 1950. Drawn on the account of Chet Huntley for "Cash", payable in the amount of $5.00. Chester "Chet" Huntley (1911-1974) teamed up on television with David Brinkley to host The Huntley-Brinkley Report (1956-1970). The show began during the presidential nominating conventions of 1956. It won eight Emmy Awards and made the pair just as recognizable as stars such as John Wayne and The Beatles. Cutting between Huntley in New York and Brinkley in Washington, the news program set new standards in television journalism. It was initially just 15 minutes long, but it later expanded to 30 minutes. Huntley retired to his native Montana in 1970. After he retired from broadcasting, he built the Big Sky Resort in his home state of Montana. Endorsed on verso in unknown hand. Cancellation holes. Ink stamps. Light surface creases. Corners slightly worn and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
