CHEVY CHASE
Contract amendment signed between Golden Globe-nominated actor and comedian Chevy Chase and NBC in 1976.
Contract signed twice by "Chevy Chase"as President of Cornelius Productions, Inc. and as Artist and by a representative of National Broadcasting Company, Inc., allin blue ink. 2 pages, 8½x11, single-sided, on National Broadcasting Company, Inc. stationery, bound with 1 staple. Aug. 17, 1976. Addressed to Cornelius Productions, Inc. c/o Michael Hecht, Hecht, Frank, Brayer & Grill, New York City. Chase signed this contract to amend a previous contract that he had signed with NBC. Chase's only TV credit in 1976 is also the one that catapulted him to fame, on NBC's Saturday Night Live. He also appeared in the comedy sketch movie Tunnel Vision. One of the most likeable comedic personalities of the 1970s and 1980s, Chase, born Cornelius Crane Chase in 1943, began his career as a comedy writer for the Smothers Brothers and National Lampoon magazine but gained popularity with his short stint (1975-1976) on Saturday Night Live. His relationship with National Lampoon led to a series of four Vacation movies starring Chase as bumbling Clark Griswold. Chase also brought Gregory Mcdonald's reporter-of-many-faces I. M. Fletcher (Fletch) for the big screen in Fletch(1985) and Fletch Lives(1989). His other film credits include Caddyshack (1980), Spies Like Us (1985), Three Amigos! (1986), Man of the House (1995), Snow Day (2000) and Orange County (2002). Chase has shared Emmy Awards for writing on Saturday Night Live and for 1977's The Paul Simon Special and received two Golden Globe nominations for his performance in 1978's Foul Play. Lightly toned and creased. Light tears at top left corner and bottom right corner. Light nicks in top edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
