B/w, 15x12¼ overall, 12x9 image, one surface, mounted on cardstock. Captioned at bottom edge in unknown hand: "April 1956". This is a photo of all nine judges on the U. S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and is signed by all nine. BURGER (1907-1995) served on the U. S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia from 1955 to 1969 before being named to succeed Earl Warren as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (1969-1986). In addition to sitting on the U. S Court of Appeals (1953-1969), DANAHER (1899-1990) was also a U. S. Senator from Connecticut (1939-1945). The other signers include WASHINGTON (1908-1971), who served on the court from 1949 to 1965; BASTIAN (1907-1995), who served from 1954 to 1965; BAZELON (1909-1993), who served from 1949 to 1979; PRETTYMAN (1891-1971), who served from 1945 to 1962; EDGERTON (1888-1970), who served from 1937 to 1963; MILLER (1892-1976), who served from 1945 to 1964; FAHY (1892-1979, who served from 1949 to 1967. Lightly toned and creased. Pen skipped while signing signatures, which are lightly beaded and have poor adhesion but are legible. Edges are cracked and creased. Paper loss and dents in cardstock on verso (no show-through). Otherwise in fine condition.
