Wills, who has printed his name on the form, has filled in his social security number, address, telephone number, occupation ("Actor"), date of birth and emergency contact ("Bettie Wills") and checked boxes for sex, race and marital status. Chill Wills (1903-1978) began his career as a child performer in tent shows, stock and vaudeville in the Southwest. In the 1930s, he formed a band, Chill Wills and the Avalon Boys, which appeared in several westerns until they disbanded in 1938. Known primarily as a character actor, Wills appeared in such films as Boom Town (1940), Tug Boat Annie Sails Again (1940), Belle Starr (1941), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), The Yearling (1946), Giant (1956), McClintock (1965) and The Rounders (1965). In 1950, the year he filled out this document, he was featured in High Lonesome, The Sundowners, Rio Grande, Rock Island Trail and Stella. Wills, who was the voice of Francis in a number of movies featuring the "talking mule" (1951-1955), was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1960 for The Alamo. Lightly creased. 2 file holes at upper blank margin, ¼" paper loss at blank edge above each. Ink notes (unknown hand) at upper right corner, circular stamp at upper blank area. Overall, fine condition.
