CHRIS MONTEZ
The 1960s rocker signs his name and best wishes in black ink
Autograph sentiment signed: "Best Wishes/ Chris/ Montez" in black ink. 4½x4 page. Chris Montez (b. 1943) is an American rock and pop singer, best known for his 1960s career. His hit single "Let's Dance" in 1962 went to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. and No. 2 in the U.K., and his second single "Some Kinda Fun" also did well. He toured with such esteemed artists such as Clyde McPhatter, Sam Cooke, The Platters, and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles; he famously questioned the Beatles, who were opening for him in his London, York and Northampton concerts "Who are these guys The Beatles? I try to keep up with the British scene but I don't know their work?" Montez made a decent comeback in 1966 with a soft ballad titled "Call Me" which appeared on his album The More I See You. Montez made more albums, but only had relative success with songs like "Time After Time" and the Latin hit "Loco por ti". A documentary was made of his life titled The Chris Montez Story in 2008 and he currently works in the Mexican-American community to promote education and healthy-living. Left edge frayed. Slightly toned. Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Ink notes in top margin in unknown hand. Ink notes on verso in unknown hand. Otherwise, fine condition.
