CHRISTOPHER BUCKLEY
As editor of a Forbes publication, he signs a typed 1997 letter declaring himself "tickled pink" by praise from comedienne Phyllis Diller.
Typed Letter signed: "Chris Buckley", 1 page, 8½x11. New York, N.Y., 1997 March 13. On letterhead of Forbes FYI, Christopher Buckley, editor. To Phyllis Diller, Los Angeles, California. In full: "Many thanks for your sweet note about 'Small Aircraft Advisory' in The New Yorker. As a long-time fan of yours, I was thrilled - make that tickled pink - to have a fan letter from you, and I will treasure it always. Warmest regards". Accompanied by matching envelope addressed in his hand. Christopher Buckley (b. 1952), the son of the late conservative pundit William F. Buckley, Jr., is a journal editor and the author of satirical novels. Two of his novels, Thank You for Smoking (1994) and Little Green Men (1999), have been made into films. Supreme Courtship, written before the 2008 Presidential candidates chose their running mates, lampoons characters bearing a strong resemblance to Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. Buckley was chief speech writer during the senior George Bush's Presidency, but was obliged to resign as a National Review columnist after writing an essay, "Sorry, Dad, I'm Voting for Obama." Normal mailing folds. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
